Our GTE workstation/consumer plans offer
flat-rate, unmetered, blazing fast Internet access for websurfing,
email, game-playing, chat and more! We offer two types of consumer
plans, one with dynamic IP, and one with statically assigned IP.
With a dynamic IP plan, the IP (Internet Protocol), address of your
computer will be assigned automatically and change periodically
while your computer is connected to 1stComm Networks via your DSL
line. This option will be fine for most customers but could
occasionally disrupt very large file downloads or continuous
game-playing. With the static IP plan, however, your computer will
have a permanent, stable Internet address and, if desired, its own
domain name; e.g, mycomputer.com. In fact, for no additional charge,
The Internet arena can provide you your own domain name under the
auspices of our 1stcomm.net or 1stserv.net domains; thus,
mycomputer.1stcomm.net might be the address you and other can use to
find your machine on the Internet. This is more convient for
game-players and power users, but still assumes the customer is not
running any variety of Internet information servers.
